Team McChord announced the 2018 Annual Award winners during the Team McChord Annual Awards Banquet Feb. 22 at the McChord Club on Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

Officer and enlisted servicemembers, civilians, spouses and teams were honored as the best of the best in 15 different categories during the ceremony.

"It's a real privilege to serve alongside all of you nominees and winners," said Col. Scovill Currin, 62nd Airlift Wing commander. "I want you to take the time to understand how special you are. Thank you so much for everything and all that you do. You are wonderful."

The award winners by category were:

• Civilian Category I of the Year -- Mr. Jason Aven, 62nd Airlift Wing

• Civilian Category IIA of the Year -- Mr. Randall Sortino, 361st Recruiting Squadron

• Civilian Category IIB of the Year -- Mr. Brendan Hilton, 62nd Airlift Wing

• Civilian Category III of the Year -- Mr. Robert McAlpine, 62nd Airlift Wing

• Airman of the Year -- Airman 1st Class Carolene Herrel, 627th Air Base Group

• Noncommissioned Officer of the Year -- Staff Sgt. John Draxler, 62nd Airlift Wing

• Senior Noncommissioned Officer of the Year -- Master Sgt. Ryan Bauman, 361st Recruiting Squadron

• First Sergeant of the Year -- Master Sgt. Garrett Skinner, 62nd Airlift Wing

• Junior Company Grade Officer of the Year -- 1st Lt. Sarah Buhler, 62nd Airlift Wing

• Company Grade Officer of the Year -- Capt. Calvin Heim, 22nd Special Tactics Squadron

• Field Grade Officer of the Year -- Maj. Marie Harnley, 627th Air Base Group

• Key Spouse of the Year -- Mrs. Katelyn Madison, 62nd Airlift Wing
