7 SEAS BREWING
Pint Defiance bottle store and taproom (2049 Mildred St., Tacoma) kicks off 2015 with a 7 Seas Brewing Brewer's Night from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14. It will be a pirate style bacchanalia of delicious beer, including Imperial Chili Pepper Stout, the 2013 Wheelchair Barleywine and "Cute" Parrot IPA on the Randall through whole leaf Citra hops and cutie oranges. The first 24 customers to order a 7 Seas brew take home some prized booty. Drink beer and be merry.
CHEF'S DINNER
At 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, The Social Bar and Grill (1715 Dock St., Tacoma) hosts a Chef's Dinner featuring a four-course dining experience paired with whiskeys. A rep from Westland Distillery will be in the house to guide you through your sips accompanied by live music by Tommy Simmons. Tickets are $40 per person. LI'L FIREHOUSE COFFEE
The L'il Firehouse Coffee's will celebrate its grand opening at 8813 Edgewater Dr. SW in Lakewood from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16, benefitting the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Owner Charles Slater is a Hanford firefighter and has been participating in the MDA "Fill the Boot" program for more than 13 years. Fifty percent of Friday's sales - plus all the monies collected via the fill the boot on site - will benefit MDA. Bonus, there's live music at the venue from 3 to 5 p.m.
FOOD FOR CHANGE
Tacoma Food Co-op and The Grand Cinema (606 S. Fawcett, Tacoma) partner to present Food for Change film screening at 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, followed by a meet and greet with Jeff Bessmer, the Co-op's new general manager. The 84-minute film examines the role of consumer led food co-ops in recent years and encourages discussion about the great debate of capitalism driven consumerism over locally controlled economic enterprise.
